Happy New Year, y’all! I’m so excited about what is to come for 2024 for all of us. It’s still Monday, so I wanted to share a Godfirmation for today to continue to show the incredible attributes of God.
Psalm 130 is really a psalm about God’s love and forgiveness for those who seek redemption. And thankfully, God is a Redeemer Who loves and forgives. That’s what we see in Psalm 130, particularly verses 7 through 8.
This psalm is a part of the Songs of Ascent, or “Pilgrim Songs.” (Psalms 120-134). A few are attributed to David, while Psalm 127 is written by Solomon. The rest, including Psalm 130, are anonymous. The psalmist here acknowledges that we are sinners, but that, in God, there is forgiveness (Psalm 130:4).
God is a Redeemer, Who loves us unconditionally and steadfastly. While we will have to deal with the consequences of our mistakes, He still loves and forgives us. And He can redeem any person, no matter what they’ve done. There are people out there that the world may not forgive, but yes, God can forgive and redeem ANYBODY.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve made my share of mistakes and done my dirt. I still struggle, and always will to some degree. Because I am a sinner. We all are. Which is why we need a Redeemer to forgive us. And I’m grateful that God is that for us.
So, no matter what you did last year, last week, last night….or even years ago, know that God still forgives and can change anyone’s heart and mind.
