GODFIRMATION: God is the Source of Our Joy

I love today’s Godfirmation! Psalm 16:11, a verse in a chapter written by David, reminds us that God should be the Source of our joy in life.

Spiritually, joy is a fruit of the Spirit that believers should possess (check Galatians 5:22-23). We should have joy not because of any special life circumstances or achievements, but because we have GOD. In fact, in spite of whatever is happening, we can still have joy knowing that God will still keep us through it all.

Bible Breakdown: Praises and Vulnerability with God in Psalms

When I first began Bible journaling and doing a deep read of the Bible, I was going to start in the Gospels to study the ministry of Jesus and who He called Christians to be. However, God led me to start the book of Psalms.

And it took me almost four months.

It was timely because, at the time I started reading Psalms, I was in a very fragile state in my life. I was house hunting in a TERRIBLE market and grappling with triggers about where I was in life. And, in that moment, I needed to read a book that deals with vulnerability and openness about your concerns with God, while still praising and trusting Him in the process. And that’s what Psalms is.

GODFIRMATION: God is Your Help

“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Psalm 121:1-2 (English Standard Version)
