Intentionality for the Rest of 2024!

“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31

Consider this a journal entry of sorts as I spill about hitting goals with God.

It seems like you’re being very intentional in some places, but not as intentional in others,” my personal trainer gently expressed in our weekly coaching call. She wasn’t judging my choices as I honestly reflected on my wins and losses of the week, but wanted to get to the why behind my choices and how I planned to improve. I was hitting strides in my workouts, but clearly wasn’t doing as well with nutrition. It’s a pattern for me. I’m great at working out. The FOOD is why I still haven’t reached my goals. And that’s 80% of the battle in weight loss.

I realized after my call that, as far as I’ve come in my life, I still have big changes to make. Not just with my nutrition, but with other areas that I desire growth in — my career, finances, home, and also Imperfectly B. Especially Imperfectly B.

It’s more than mysterious willpower or incredible discipline that will come out of thin air just because you “will it so.” There’s not even a planner alive that going to help if you don’t commit to hitting smaller action items that will help you get to the bigger goal. And it’s going to take some intentional changes over the course of the last four months of 2024.

Palm Sunday: Be A Follower of Jesus and Not Just a Fan (VIDEO)

It’s Palm Sunday, which is the day Jesus made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem as depicted in the Gospels (Matthew 21:1-11; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:28-40, and John 12:12-19) I’ll be honest with y’all, though I always had a bit of a qualm about Palm Sunday, because the Jews were praising Jesus, shouting “Hosanna, Hosanna!” that day. Less than a week later, it was “Crucify Him!”

Now understandably, everything that happened HAD to happen for Jesus to fulfill His mission to die and rise from the dead for our sins. But still…those people were FICKLE! But then again…I’ve been too. My pastor broke it down in his Palm Sunday sermon this year, and he reminded me that this is a prime example of why it’s important to be a FOLLOWER of Jesus and not just a fan.

Six Habits for Spiritual Growth This Year and Beyond

As Christians, we should each be building daily habits in our walks with God to know Him better, hear from Him, and grow in the purposes He has for each of our lives. For the past few years, there has been something specific that God has been working with me specifically about to grow in Him. However, there are some key things that all of us should be doing as believers (whether we’re new to the faith or have been in this for a minute now)!

Here are six habits that will help us grow in our journeys with God this year and beyond!

How To Study The Bible Beyond Devotional Reading

I wanted to share a guide on studying the Bible beyond just reading devotionals. For those of y’all who don’t like to read, I’m gonna need y’all to start! BUT there is a RECAP at the bottom of this page.

I preface this by saying that there are great devotionals out there, which can really be helpful for a breakdown of smaller passages. You can certainly still read those. I still have a few great ones on my bookcase that I’ll share soon! However, in my current season, I have preferred having more historical background and context beyond just a few verses, so I can work on knowing and applying the Word correctly.

Forever Imperfect: Revamping Imperfectly B Into a Christian Website

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 (English Standard Version)

Hello world. For those who have followed me, glad to have you back! For those who are new, HEY! I’m Brittany Shawnté and I’m a writer/editor (read more about me here). This is a LONG post (and if you’re reading this on your phone, I especially apologize to you! RECAP is at the bottom!). But I have to explain some things. Clearly.

I’ve been away from writing on this site for A WHILE. In January 2022, I created a mission statement: to use my creativity and words to inspire and encourage others to confidently walk in the purposes that God gave them.

By the end of 2022, I realized I had fallen from that with the whole adulting/making money thing, and sought to realign myself to my purpose. In fact, that was my word for 2023: REALIGNMENT. I thought that meant focusing more on the original intent of Imperfectly B, which was to create motivating and inspiring content. However, God was slowly pulling me into aligning with sharing more about Him.
