Recently, a 30-year-old woman known as Diva (also known as @stonelover43 on Instagram) in Washington, D.C. sadly went viral after being thrown in a dumpster by men in the area. I’m not even going to share that disgusting video or other details. The point is that others saw it and wanted to step in to show this girl some love, including some female entrepreneurs in her own area!

I’ll admit, I’ve been struggling lately. Between the quarantine and everything that I have going on, I’ve been on an emotional trip lately. I’ve been running from doing certain things or running towards certain things simply because it was easy and comfortable. And, while I’ve been giving myself a little room to breathe and relax during these hard times, I know that I have to do some work on myself even when it’s uncomfortable.

I absolutely LOVE this song by Tracee Ellis Ross and wanted to have it be this week’s Inspirational Jam.
“Love Myself” is about just that: the journey of loving yourself. We get caught up in comparing ourselves to others on social media and needing validation from other people sometimes. We feel like we need to change aspects of who we are, forgetting that we are enough. This was a really good reminder for me. The song was featured on the soundtrack for The High Note, which stars Tracee alongside Dakota Johnson and Ice Cube.

Washington D.C. has been in the news lately with a bold statement painted on the street near the White House that says plainly: BLACK LIVES MATTER. The street was also renamed Black Lives Matter plaza and has brought in people from all over to see the street mural.
That includes a young figure skater who wanted to inspire and touch the world the best way she knew how.
