I started our Monday “Godfirmations” as a reminder of Who God is and Who He’s called us to be. Today’s Godfirmation, taken from Zephaniah 3:17, is a reminder from the Bible that we have a Mighty Warrior fighting on our behalf.
Zephaniah is one of the minor prophets who prophesied to the people of Judah ahead of their exile in Babylon. This was at a time when they were in major sin, particularly with idolatry and desecrating the temple (I’m finishing Jeremiah right now, and it was a mess). Just doing whatever they wanted to do.
God planned to punish them with this exile, because He doesn’t play about His name. But yet, in Zephaniah 3, God also shared that He would be there for those who turned back to them. He would fight for them against any enemies like the Mighty Warrior He is.
I’m grateful that God is a “BUT YET” type of God. I am a mess that struggles with doubt and gossip and much more, BUT YET He loves me. Some of us are fighting lust or anger, BUT YET He fights for us. God is the Mighty Warrior Who we can trust will fight for our behalf, because we are His children and He loves us.
We are all battling our own things, whether it be by the hands of others or our own hands. However, we can trust that, if we give it to God fully, He is more than capable of handling things. He is our Protector, who we can trust to watch out for us!
