Have you ever had someone promise to do something for you or with you and then flake? Ugh…I hate that. But I know I also haven’t always stuck to what I said I would do, especially not promises to myself.
But the God we serve isn’t fickle like us. This Godfirmation from Deuteronomy 7:9 reminds us of that. He’s faithful and He sticks to His Word!
In Deuteronomy 7, as God is commanding Israel to conquer the Canaanites in the land that He promised them, God also mentions how He is faithful and keeps His promises to those who love Him and keep His commandments. Even when Israel wasn’t (and that happened…A LOT), God remained faithful to them. That didn’t go without punishment in certain instances, but God never left them. They were His chosen people to bring Jesus into the world, and He kept His Word to watch over and keep them for generations.
There are so many individual and group promises in the Bible that God has kept. His promise to Abraham to make him a father of many nations. His promise to Samuel that David would be made king to replace Saul. And ultimately His promise to send a Savior to redeem us from our sins!
We can trust God has and will continue to be faithful and keep His promises to us. He’s shown it time and time again, not only in the Bible but if we look throughout our lives. I have examples of God keeping His promises to me and my family, and I’m incredibly grateful!
What promises has God kept in your life?
