This Godfirmation is probably one of my favorites that I need reminding of now and then. The God of all creation will grant you PEACE in the time of storms.
In the book of Philippians, the apostle Paul wrote to the church of Philippi, where Christians were not only being persecuted but also dealing with false teachers and fighting amongst each other. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul encourages them to “not be anxious about anything,” but instead to let their requests be made known to God.” And His peace would guard their hearts and minds!
I don’t know about you but that means everything to me, especially when I’m struggling emotionally. Life has certainly knocked me down a few pegs, but there have been moments when praying to and hearing from God and reading the Bible have calmed my spirit in some really rocky moments.
While I certainly would advise anything struggling mentally or emotionally to also seek professional help, we as believers can cast our cares upon the Lord, and He will grant us peace and joy.
However, I’ve found that this means relinquishing control of everything. Not just what I can’t handle, but even the things I THINK I can. When God is at the helm, there is truly a peace that surpasses all understanding! Others who know what you’re going through may be SHOCKED to see that there is a sense of calm and joy around you. And all you can do is thank God for it!
