“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 121:1-2 (English Standard Version)
Another Godfirmation to kick off your week! This entire chapter of Psalms, but particularly Psalm 121:1-2, is a reminder that God is on your side and your help in the midst of trouble.
Psalm 121 is a part of the Songs of Ascent, a collection of 15 Psalms (Psalms 120-134) that were traditionally sung by Hebrew pilgrims. Typically, Hebrews would migrate uphill (“ascent”) to Jerusalem for special occasions, including Passover, and these were some of the songs they sang on their travels. This passage is a reminder that we can look to God, the Creator of heaven and earth, to be there for us.
I’ve had my share of problems and issues, and I’ve recognized that God truly is my help in the midst of some wild and uncertain circumstances. That comes from spending time reading the Bible, learning His voice, and praying for discernment. I don’t believe in luck or coincidence. I don’t believe in just an “intuition.” I believe in the Trinity and that God’s gift of the Holy Spirit speaks to believers — sharing instruction, encouragement, and conviction. God helps me navigate this thing called life, and orchestrates my life in such a way that it works for my good…and for His glory.
God is truly our help! We can depend on Him to have our back when we need Him the most!
