MUST WATCH! The Forge Movie: Highlighting Faith, Redemption, and Discipleship with Believers

Many Christians across the country are raving about the film, “The Forge!” Directed by Alex Kendrick, the Christian film stars Aspen Kennedy, Priscilla Shirer, Cameron Arnett, and Karen Abercrombie and is a spinoff from the 2015 flick “War Room.”

Some weeks ago, I went to go see and review “The Forge,” which has resonated with audiences for its powerful narrative, deeply rooted in themes of faith, redemption, and the transformative power of God’s grace. It’s also a powerful message of the importance of discipleship in the lives of believers, especially new Christians who are figuring out their walks with God.

Wednesday Word: “Your Fruit Will Help You Discern Bad Fruit in Others” – Jerry Flowers, Jr.

For this Wednesday Word, in one of his messages, Pastor Jerry Flowers, Jr. shared the importance of being able to discern good character (or “fruit”) in other people who are in (or are trying to enter) your life. Galatians 5:22-23 talks about the fruit of the Spirit, key attributes that should be reflected in the lives of believers. Those are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control

Some people talk a mean game of believing in God but don’t truly walk as God has called us to live, particularly with these characteristics. I struggle with some of these still myself, but there is a difference between struggling with these on occasion and not even trying to tackle them. Now before you say “Only God can judge me,” that’s a Tupac Shakur song, not the Bible. There is such a thing as righteous judgment amongst believers (John 7:24) and it’s important to have discernment over who you allow into your life.

LOL: I Need the Closed Captions Turned On! (Your Favorite Aunties Podcast)

I’m a huge fan of Your Favorite Aunties Podcast with real-life friends Nia Danielle and ShaMarian Robinson! These ladies are out here trying to navigate life God’s way, and give some great advice and laughs with their podcast and social media clips.

I had to post this clip because I NEED closed captions turned on when I’m watching TV. So much so, that, if I’m over your house watching TV long enough, I’m going to turn them on myself (just ask my parents). And clearly, my fellow aunties agree with me!

Must Watch: “Once I Was A Beehive,” A Story of Faith and Friendship

I was randomly on Peacock a while ago and started finding different faith-based movies. One that I watched, and really liked was the 2015 indie film, “Once I Was A Beehive” starring Paris Warner, Mila Smith, and Lisa Clark. Even as a grown woman, I will watch a teen show/movie in a second!

Here’s a short synopsis:

After losing her father to cancer, a teenage girl, Lane, reluctantly joins her new stepcousin, Phoebe, at a summer camp for Latter-day Saint (Mormon) girls. (To add on more, her mother remarried someone about a year later).

Though I am a Baptist Christian and don’t subscribe to all of the beliefs of the Mormon faith, I still think that this movie has a special message about faith, fun, and friendship. Plus, as you soon will tell, I’m a sucker for cheesy, campy movies!

Here are three great takeaways from “Once I Was a Beehive” (and the trailer!).

Worship Song: “Give Me Jesus”-VOUS Worship

“Even if everything I know is taken away, I won’t lose hope…
I’ll cling to the One who won’t let go. Just give me Jesus…”

I had to share this Worship Song, “Give Me Jesus” by VOUS Worship with y’all. This song is so beautiful and calming, but also a wonderful acknowledgment that having Jesus is better than any other treasures and success we could find on earth.
