This Godfirmation is one that excited me today. Taken from the good book of Psalms, this one is a reminder that God is a healer!
We say it all the time. Yes, God is a physical healer. He can heal those on their sickbeds (I’ve seen it personally). But He also heals so much more in us.
Of course, when we think about God as a healer, we consider how God (Jesus) has healed others in the Bible from physical ailments like leprosy. Think about the woman with the issue of blood in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
But God isn’t just a physical healer. He is a healer of emotional and mental wounds, generational trauma, grief, heartaches, and betrayals. We see God uplifting and encouraging His prophets and others, like Moses, Elijah, and Mary, the mother of Jesus (either Himself, through angels, or through other people). Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
In the Bible, we see Jesus Christ heal several people during His ministry. And while He astounded people with His miracles, His mission was much greater than any earthly healing. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus healed the disconnect between us and God the Father. In our sin, we cannot have right relationship with God, who is perfect and detests sin. Jesus, in His sacrifice, reconciled us back to the Father, which was the ultimate healing.
Whew, that’ll preach…thank You God for being the healer over our lives!
