I think this Godfirmation is so important! We have a lot of cliche sayings as believers of Jesus and in church. “God knows my heart” is one of them. We often hear (or even use) that when we try to excuse our actions (not going to church, not reading our Bibles, etc.).
We gotta be careful with that because YEAH He does know our hearts…every last bit of them. And we’ll be held accountable in the end.
Hebrews 4:12-13 reminds us that God is discerning of our HEARTS. While others hear some of what we say and do, God knows EVERYTHING we say, do, AND THINK. He knows our true hearts and intentions behind everything. And, according to this passage, we will be held accountable for it.
While that sounds discouraging, it’s honest. That’s why it’s so important to continually ask God to check our hearts on how we think, what we say, and what we do. Even our serving in the kingdom can be a disservice to God when our hearts aren’t in the right place. If you’re merely seeking attention and clout behind doing Kingdom work, or even doing something just out of obligation, instead of trying to reach new souls, it’s still wrong intent.
I’m going to write about that a bit more in the future. For now, let’s continue to pray that God cleanse our hearts to be more like Him for real!
