“Lord I know, I know I don’t belong with You cuz I’ve done wrong… Oh but yet I still hear You calling my name…”
“Calling My Name” is a classic gospel song from Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir (LFC). This song popped up on shuffle for me a few weeks ago, and has been in my head ever since.
This Gospel Throwback reminds us that God continues to love and call after us, even when we do wrong!
The LFC, led by Hezekiah, sings behind soloist Timiney Figueroa, who is AMAZING on this song! I just love how beautiful her voice and the choir’s harmony, but the message of the song is more important.
I love this song personally because it reminds me that God still loves little old me and wants us to have a close bond. He’s still calling me to do His will…even though I often mess up, procrastinate, get angry, get impatient, act out, etc. etc.
Now this doesn’t absolve us from not doing what God has called us to do, especially when we know better. However, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. Still. Even those of us who are believers. We all continually sin and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and need to But God, in His infinite love and wisdom, sent a Savior for those sins — past, present, and future. And still, God calls us to reconcile and be in relationship with Him!
