I had to share this Wednesday Word from evangelist, author, and actress Priscilla Shirer. It’s so timely for my life right now, and I hope that others will be able to pull something from it as well.
This is for those who are in a season of life where they aren’t quite where they want to be. But the challenge in this season is to continue to seek God and gain a heavenly perspective on what He’s trying to show you during this time!
In this clip, Priscilla discusses how many of us are always chasing the next seasons of our lives, rather than looking for contentment and growth in the current season. “God has us in that season, difficulties and all,” she states. “He has us there because there’s something about His character that will be best revealed against the backdrop of that particular season of our life!”
Admittedly, my life doesn’t look like how I thought it would as a 30-something-year-old. I pictured myself as a wife and mom, and at a certain place in my career, and doing different things. Certain goals are happening slowly but surely, but I’m not where I thought I would be. And it can be DIFFICULT. More difficult than I let on.
However, I’ve also been asking God to continue to mold and shape me into who He’s called me to be. And, with that, I’ve been challenged on multiple occasions, whether with clips like these or in-person discussions, to ask God what He’s trying to teach me in this season, rather than focus on getting to the next season. And man oh man, has He been getting me TOGETHER — showing me changes that I need to make but also showing me His faithfulness and other characteristics in my circumstances!
So, if you are going through a challenging season, ask God what He is trying to teach you right now — not just about yourself, but also about Him and your relationship with Him!
