Several verses in the Bible speak to God’s wisdom. We Christians serve a God Who is all-knowing and also knows what is best for each of us.
I highlight James 3:17 for today’s Godfirmation for this attribute of God because this verse also shows the FRUIT and MOTIVE of God’s wisdom. While human wisdom or perspective is often driven by selfish motives, God operates in selfless, loving wisdom and simply wants the best for us.
Not only is God the source of all wisdom, but His wisdom is pure. People like to paint God as a prideful being Who attempts to force His ways onto everyone else. That’s far from the truth. Really, His wisdom seeks peace and justice and is also loving, gentle, and merciful. That wisdom is shown in His actions towards us every day.
And, when we spend time with Him and ask Him to guide us in our lives, God provides us with this type of wisdom. Not a self-serving, ambitious wisdom or perspective like the world, but one that seeks to serve and is authentic. A wisdom that sees that there is more to this life than just what you can gain, but really what you can give. When we operate in God’s wisdom, our perspectives truly shift.
