When you consider the sovereignty of God, what comes to mind? This Godfirmation is a reminder that God is Lord of all creation. He can exercise and has exercised that authority as well.
This is a serious attribute of God! Because of His sovereignty, everything happens according to His plan and intention. He has all power and has the ability to create from nothing, give anything, and take away anything.
God’s sovereignty is seen in the story of Job, where God allows Satan to take pretty much everything from Job (his kids, his property, livestock, etc.). Job certainly struggled and had moments of despair and questions in the midst of his grief. But yet, Job decided to still keep his faith in God, believing to trust Him not just because of His blessings but simply because of Who God is…including His dominion over all creation. Job knew that God was capable of doing any and everything…and NO PURPOSE of His could be thwarted. By ANYONE…not even yourself.
Ultimately, God reigns supreme and exercises authority over His creation. Because of that and His omniscient power, we can know that He is not just making things up as He goes along in each of our lives. But He also still allows free will for us to make our choices to follow Him…or not. It’s up to each of us to trust Him.
