It’s clear in the Bible, through the lives of different people and principles taught by Jesus and the apostles, that God desires to have a real relationship with us. A part of that is having honest conversations with Him about our concerns.
Thankfully, we can do that because we know that our Father in heaven cares for us. So I’m sharing this Godfirmation today taken from 1 Peter 5:7 to remind us all of that today!
It’s in those real conversations with God that we not only get our anxieties off our chest, but we also show vulnerability and trust in Him also. I believe that therapy is an incredible tool that should also be used (there are amazing therapists out there helping people to improve their lives!). But God also wants to hear from us too, because He cares for us.
That’s something I’ve had to work on in my relationship with God. I personally have often minimized my feelings with everyone in my life, simply because I have a control issue over my problems. If I’m in a jam, I’ve always felt like I’ve just had to buckle down and figure things out…and then proceeded to figure out a solution. The problem with that is that I “push through” my feelings and don’t acknowledge how heavy they are sometimes.
That’s not how God wants us to live. If we believe that we have the God of the universe on our side, we ought to cast our cares and our anxieties on Him, because He’s the one Who can actually do something about them. And even if He doesn’t work things out quite like how we expected, because He cares for us, we can trust that He has an even better plan in mind for us.
