Learning to B Good with Being Alone

This post….is for the singles. The ones who smile seeing their friends get married and have kids, while lowkey wondering when it will be their turn. I’m with you. This post is NOT for the judgemental. This is a transparent post for me that I hope reaches whoever it’s supposed to reach. If it don’t apply, let it fly.

Let me start this post by saying this isn’t meant to be bitter, mad, or upset. I’m really not. This is not a man-bashing post or a post to lament my singleness. This isn’t a post to open the door for dates, either. *laughs* I’ve just been taking a lot of time to learn things about myself and my patterns these past few years. Including my dating and relationship habits and how they’ve reflected who I am and what I needed to work on. This post has been on my heart for a long, long time. Today, May 1, 2022, on the fifth anniversary of Imperfectly B, as I work towards a new level of the site, it seems fitting to write on this. Soooo….here we go.

You Don’t Have to B Big to B Great (“B” Series)

(THIS POST IS A PART OF MY “B” SERIES WHICH I’LL DELIVER ONCE A MONTH!

CONTINUE TO B KIND. B SILLY. B INSPIRED. B IMPERFECT.)

“A life of significance is about serving those who need your gifts, your leadership, and your purpose.”

I’ve opened up multiple times about the fact that I struggle with comparison. Many of us do, if we’re honest. It ultimately ends up hurting us because, based on other people’s highlight reels, we feel that nothing we achieved or are working towards is enough.

I know this but still I struggle. So much so, that I’ve had to delete and ignore social media at times, outside of scheduling posts for Imperfectly B (which, as a writer and rising microinfluencer, is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to do). I have obsessed over having the “right look” and content for my Instagram and website in my quest to snag sponsorship deals, as well as a good amount of engagement (likes, retweets, comments) across all platforms to be appealing. I wanted to be a big name in my field, thinking that it would mean I could reach more people, when really, it was about selfish ambition. I had to check myself.

#ImperfectChat: 5 Questions to Ask Yourself To Discover Your Life’s Purpose

A few years ago, a dear friend of mine recently came up to me, congratulating me on Imperfectly B, and stated, “I wish I knew what I was meant to do like you do.” Y’all. Our purpose is already within us, but we just have to do some self-reflection and consider what it may be.

I was blessed to know mine at an early age, and others do too. However, some, like my friend was, may be struggling to find what theirs is. There are a few simple questions you have to ask yourself. I break it down in an #ImperfectChat video with some guided bullet points to help you out!

The Top 5 Motivating Songs I Currently Have On Repeat

If you’ve been reading the site for a bit, you know that every Thursday I share Inspirational Jams with motivating music that I love. Some of them I love just a littleeee bit more than others.

These five tracks have been on repeat for me currently. From reggae artist Koffee to pop rocker Panic! At The Disco, this short list reflects my eclectic musical tastes. However, they each motivate me in different ways whether it’s to live a life of gratitude, hustle my butt off and be strategic with my moves, or simply to love myself a little bit better. I hope that they serve you in the same.

Check them out below!

B Prepared For What You Want

(THIS POST IS A PART OF MY “B” SERIES WHICH I’LL DELIVER ONCE A MONTH!

CONTINUE TO B KIND. B SILLY. B INSPIRED. B IMPERFECT.)

This post is a little bit of a vent. I know that it can be super frustrating to feel like you’ve been working your tail off to achieve your goals and you’re still not getting ahead. I’ve been there. On some things, I am there.

I am building up my brand for Imperfectly B, growing in freelance writing gigs, building a side hustle in Zumba. Sometimes, I’m overwhelmed by the amount of work that goes into all of that. I also sometimes get overwhelmed by the feeling of needing to “get ahead” with my work, earning more followers or income or whatever else.

The problem is, I want this “big success” as a blogger and influencer but I’ve found that I’m not really as ready for it as I claim to be. I haven’t established the proper processes and consistent habits that I need to do. I still have things that I need to learn so that I can be the best that I can be. I need to prepare myself for the things that I claim I want.
