Learning to B Good with Being Alone

This post….is for the singles. The ones who smile seeing their friends get married and have kids, while lowkey wondering when it will be their turn. I’m with you. This post is NOT for the judgemental. This is a transparent post for me that I hope reaches whoever it’s supposed to reach. If it don’t apply, let it fly.

Let me start this post by saying this isn’t meant to be bitter, mad, or upset. I’m really not. This is not a man-bashing post or a post to lament my singleness. This isn’t a post to open the door for dates, either. *laughs* I’ve just been taking a lot of time to learn things about myself and my patterns these past few years. Including my dating and relationship habits and how they’ve reflected who I am and what I needed to work on. This post has been on my heart for a long, long time. Today, May 1, 2022, on the fifth anniversary of Imperfectly B, as I work towards a new level of the site, it seems fitting to write on this. Soooo….here we go.

Y’all, I’M OFFICIALLY THIRTY YEARS OLD TODAY. I know a lot of people dread leaving their twenties behind, but I’m actually looking forward to what’s ahead. I am truly in a place where I’m 30, flirty, and thriving, and I’m loving it. Granted, I’ve only been 30 for a few hours at this point but whatever. I feel good!

Six Realistic Things I’m Doing To Stay Sane During Quarantine

Y’all, I had an entire list of things I planned to do towards the beginning of the pandemic to keep a regular routine. It included attending all of the cool virtual events I could as well as getting dolled up and dressed every day. That was in April, when I naively thought this all was going to be wrapped up by summer.

We’re six months in now. I put on sweatpants and call it a day as I try to get work done. If my curls are popping in the morning, that’s a win. Virtual experiences (happy hours, virtual lunches, etc) have become annoying because, between work, side hustling, and watching Netflix, looking at screens all day can be draining. Minus some of the Verzuz battles on Instagram Live (I personally applaud Brandy and Monica for finally doing one!!!).

So this is my personal, new realistic list of things that I have found have kept me relatively sane in the midst of this pandemic. Hopefully, some of them help you!

B Authentic

(THIS POST IS A PART OF MY “B” SERIES WHICH I’LL DELIVER ONCE A MONTH!
CONTINUE TO B KIND. B SILLY. B INSPIRED. B IMPERFECT.)

If you’ve been reading my words and watching my thoughts on YouTube or Instagram, you know that I’m pretty open and honest about the mistakes I’ve made and the lessons I’ve learned. Why? Because I really want other people to not do the same crazy mess! I want us all to be the best that we can be.

So this “B” post is timely because I’ve been being more consistent and disciplined with building my “brand” online, figuring out what I want to put forth and what separates me from the pack. It’s hard sometimes because you feel like you have to be like some of the other influencers out there in order to get any traction. That took me back to years past.
