Inspirational Jam: “Titanium”-David Guetta feat. Sia

I really love the message behind today’s Inspirational Jam!

With David Guetta at the helm of production, singer Sia taking lead vocals on popular track, “Titanium.” Now, just to give some of us a quick science lesson, titanium is a light but strong metal, which is often used for aircraft, spacecraft and missiles because it is so light but still able to withstand very high temperatures.

So, in the song, David and Sia use that metal to refer to us all. We too are like titanium, able to withstand extreme amounts of pressure from our own circumstances or from others who may try to shoot us down. No one goes through this life unscathed, but it’s our ability to stand strong that determines where we get to in life. Hopefully this song gives you a little inspiration today!

Inspirational Jam: “Golden”-Jill Scott

Today’s great Inspirational Jam has me in a real good mood. It always does!

Jill Scott’s “Golden” is a strong reminder for me to enjoy the life I’ve been blessed with. We all should, really.

Life doesn’t come without its hardships or annoyances, but it’s the little but great moments that make all the difference. Like spending an afternoon with your family or friends, going to a great event around your town, or working towards your actual dream.

I may have some down moments in my life, but I refuse to let them get me down forever. We each only have one life to live, and I’m making mine a great one. Not just professionally, but on a personal level too. Out here really living life like it’s golden! How about you?

Sara Bareilles‘ “Brave” is a perfect Inspirational Jam to start off the year!

This track is all about standing up, in spite of what people think, and bravely expressing your opinions and living your life! So often, we let the crowd dictate what we say, what we do, what we wear, or whatever else. We can let people silence us, and even downplay our gifts and dim our light to make people feel comfortable.

That’s canceled in 2018 and beyond! I have two phrases on my vision board that stand out. “Be Seen” and “Be Heard.” I made a vow to myself that I will never shrink myself again, that I will give my best, and be exactly who I am, no matter what anyone thinks. I want the same for y’all!

Inspirational Jam: “Ambitious Girl”-Wale

“Ambitious girl, you just wanna win, and you’d rather chase your dreams than to try to chase these men…”

This Inspirational Jam today is just for the ladies. And it’s…less of a song, but more of spoken word set to music.

Wale‘s poem “Ambitious Girl” is for all of the women out there working their butts off to achieve their dreams. It’s not always a pretty or perfect journey. It can be downright rough, if we’re honest. But our dreams are much bigger than any level of discomfort or fear, and we grind hard to make them into reality. Wale celebrates that and encourages us on this track, as he has on others.

I played this ALL THE TIME when it first came out. Seriously. It was a ringtone. It was my alarm. It was playing in my ears on my way to class or when I was typing up papers in college. It was serious motivation back in 2010 going into sophomore year, and still continues to be. I hope it inspires some of you other ladies, too.

Mary Mary came through with this Inspirational Jam back in 2008, and it’s still a hit that I love to play to get my tail into gear!

“Get Up” was featured on the sister duo’s fourth album, The Sound, and ended up winning a Grammy for Best Gospel Performance! The contagiously upbeat song will motivate you, even first thing in the morning, to get up and get moving! There’s only 24 hours in a day, so we have to get going and make each moment count for something. That’s what this song is all about.

So whether you’re getting an early morning workout, getting ahead of the game on your side hustle, or getting stuff done around the house, this song definitely will get your day started on the right track!
