#MondayMotivation

Good morning all…another Monday, but I’m actually in a great mood this morning. Feeling optimistic about this week! This quote from the late legend Ella Fitzgerald is definitely helpful for me.

I’ve been getting a lot of great compliments about Imperfectly B, which I’m grateful for. Not because I need them to validate what I’m doing, but it’s just good to hear that my words are helping people in some way. That’s what I wanted all along. I’ll be honest. I still tend to doubt myself somewhat in this new direction. It’s not easy in the least bit. But, at the end of the day,  it’s so right. I feel so inspired and at peace every time I start to write here. It doesn’t feel like a chore. It just flows. I’ll make mistakes (I already have), but I feel like I’m on the right track overall with this site.

Listen. Wherever you have that same love and inspiration, that’s where you truly belong. Don’t give up because the road gets hard, or you don’t know if you can make it happen for yourself. Whatever you really want to do, go after it with everything you’ve got! You may hit some bumps in the road, and you’ll get some things wrong, but keep going anyway. Don’t stop trying.

Deaf Singer on America’s Got Talent Amazes Us with Her Incredible Story and Talent

A video has been circulating around this week from NBC‘s America’s Got Talent with an amazing audition from a deaf singer, Mandy Harvey!

Singing since she was 4, Mandy lost her hearing at 18 because of a connective tissue disorder. She got sick, and her nerves deteriorated, resulting in her loss of hearing. However, she took the time to learn how to continue to sing, learning how to trusting her pitch and keeping her shoes off while performing to feel the vibrations of the music to stay on beat.

For her audition, Mandy sang an original song called “Try,” which she wrote to push herself to continue to keep going, and not just give up because of her hearing loss! It brought the audience to their feet, and moved tough judge Simon Cowell so much that he hit the “golden buzzer” (which lets her go straight directly to the semi-finals!)

Watch Mandy below!

When I first saw this, I was brought to tears (I’ve become such a big crybaby now). Mandy’s story and perseverance moved me so much. I didn’t once feel sorry for her, because she doesn’t feel sorry for herself. She keeps on trying, pursuing her music wholeheartedly. It was a reminder to push through my circumstances, and to continue to try no matter what comes my way! Hopefully, this inspires you all to do the same!

Inspirational Jam: “The Bloom (AG3)”-Wale feat. Stokley Williams

“May the sun kiss you, unconditional. I pray each and every lyric get to you on this third rendition for you and your ambition boo. Bloom.”

                                                               –Wale (“The Bloom [AG3]”)

Last night, I went to go see my favorite rapper’s Wale at one of my local radio station’s WPGC 95.5‘s 30th Birthday Bash. My body is paying for it (I keep forgetting I’m closer to 30 than 20), but the night was LIT!

Anyway, in honor of last night, today’s inspirational jam is from my fave, as he gives another tribute to the ambitious girls out here with “The Bloom (AG3)” featuring Stokely Williams.  Having released two versions of “Ambitious Girl” previously, this third rendition is upbeat and catchy as Wale continues to encourage us to stay true to our wild and crazy selves while we get on these goals. And the video was shot in the beautiful Anguilla, which makes it all the more amazing to watch!

Check it out below!

Adorable Son Gets His Dad Out of a Parking Ticket in Court

A man recently brought his five-year-old son Jacob with him to court, thinking he was just going to be paying off a parking ticket.

The judge on the case immediately took notice of the little boy in his courtroom, even bringing Jacob up to sit with him. He asked the kindergartner about school and what he wanted to be when he grew up. The older man even put Jacob in the judge’s seat, asking the little boy to pick his dad’s fine!

Watch the cute video below!

It was all in good fun, though. The judge ultimately let the dad off the hook, telling the father to instead use that money to go out for breakfast with his son. Definitely a video that made me smile this morning!

#MondayMotivation

Good morning y’all! It’s another Monday already (it’s truly crazy how quick the weekend goes by). Even though I tend to drag at the start of a new week, I’m determined that this week is going to be a good one. I hope you are too!

Today’s #MondayMotivation is a right on time message for me. This year is shaping up to be the best year I’ve had in a long, long time, after quite a bit of disappointments, rejection, and loss over the past few years. I’m on track financially to make some new moves, and my freelance work and opportunities have taken off. Definitely in a better place than I was even a year ago, and I’m grateful. However, it was my disappointments that helped to set me up for that success.

It’s like I’ve said before. Your delay is truly not a denial. You will experience quite a bit of loss before each win, but the most important part is that you keep trying. Success will come. So if you’re in a season of disappointments, where it seems like things just aren’t going to work out, keep going anyway. Trust me. It’ll be worth it.
