I thought of this #MondayMotivation quote randomly yesterday. I remember being in my head about something that I really want for my life and lamenting over the fact that it hasn’t happened yet. That comparison game is something ugly, yall. Then this quote came to mind: “What’s meant for you will not pass you by.”
I think we get this quote a little twisted, though.
When I first heard this quote a long, long time ago, I thought that, if I believed something was truly meant for me, it indeed would happen. If I was passionate about it, gifted at it, and worked for it, it HAD to come true. Let’s all laugh together. That’s certainly not the case. Some things (and people) I really wanted definitely passed me by, even when I thought I was the perfect fit. I know I’m not the only one who’s been there.
I’ve lived long enough to be grateful that some things and people passed me by, either temporarily or completely. I’ve recognized that there is beauty in delay and there’s also beauty in things not working out. Sometimes it’s due to our own mistakes, but I believe that, a lot of times, when life doesn’t go according to plan, it might actually even be protection. Sometimes, the things or people we want can set us back OR we may just not be ready. At this point, I actually pray that whatever and whoever is not meant for me will stay away from me, especially in this season of my life.
I realize today that this quote is really about trusting in what God has in store for you, even if it’s not what you planned. It’s hard to do in the moment, but ultimately, your life will work out the way that it’s supposed to FOR YOU. You will be built up for who YOU are supposed to be and the purpose over YOUR life. Not the way or at the time that it’s happening for someone else. And that’s a beautiful thing.
Imperfectly,
