I found this quote by American novelist Truman Capote to be pretty interesting. It’s really a reminder to shift your perspective on your inevitable failures in life, which we all need to hear now and then.

I’ve never heard failure be referred to as a condiment HA! To me, this quote is saying that success is the main dish you want, like a steak. However, failures give your successes a little more kick, spice, or satisfaction in the end. And, if you think about it, it’s true.

Let me make this clear. Nobody likes to fail (unless you’re an odd glutton for punishment). I know I don’t. It doesn’t feel good at the time. It can hurt and make you feel inadequate. But many of us know that our past failures gave us the kick in the behind that we needed to grow and improve in our goals. Our failures helped us learn what to do and what not to do. And that makes our wins so much more satisfying in the end.

When you learn to be better and not bitter about the direction of your life, you learn to take every venture, whether it went good or bad, as a lesson learned. But it’s those bad ones, those big mistakes and screwups, that always end up helping you to get further ahead. Shift your perspective on your failures today!
