It’s Mondayyyy!!!! Hopefully, this #MondayMotivation quote from famed writer of The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho, encourages someone today.
Personal story: my dad and I talk a lot about my work. I hold down a 9-5 job but also some side hustles. At the beginning of my career, I was so frustrated with where I started. Lord knows, life still isn’t what I expected it to be. However, he would always refer to my positions in life as stepping stones to get to where I wanted to be. Just because there were areas where I didn’t want to be, didn’t mean that there wasn’t something I could learn and grow from while I was there.
He was right. Literally, every job or writing gig I had (whether I loved it or hated it) has set me up to do some of the things I’m doing now. Even certain unexpected life circumstances Just because life doesn’t take in the direction that you were expecting, doesn’t mean that you can’t still grow from it. This is what Paulo Coelho is sharing with this quote. Sometimes, what we weren’t expecting turns out to be exactly what we needed in life. And it doesn’t have to refer to just a job. It could be a breakup, a hard financial situation, or anything else that leads you in a completely different but better direction than you thought possible.
So, if you’re in a place where it’s not quite what you’re expecting, it’s okay. I know it likely really sucks, especially when you don’t see a happy ending in sight. Go through the emotions that come with it, but know that, ultimately, you’ll come out stronger and better because of it.
