As we get ready to start February, here’s some #MondayMotivation to remind you to love on yourself this month and beyond! Especially if you haven’t been showing yourself enough love lately.
Sometimes, in life, we get caught up in doing things and being there for other people. It may be because we’re trying to people please. It may be because we genuinely care about them and want to make sure they’re good. This can be our kids or other family members, our significant others, our friends, and others that we come into contact with regularly.
We all have heard the saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” I’ve written about this a few times. If we aren’t taking care of ourselves, how can we truly take care of others? If you aren’t loving on yourself or taking time for yourself, even for just a small amount of time, it can take a toll on your mental and emotional wellbeing and even lead to resentment of those you care for.
You have to make the commitment to show yourself the love and grace that you give to other people. And it really is a commitment because it doesn’t always feel like you “have time” or “are able.” It’s not always easy, but you have to learn to set boundaries and work out making time to spend with yourself. You can find even just a few minutes to break away from the world and do something for yourself like meditation or journaling. For me, I have been working more on my own creative projects and doing in-person and virtual events that break me away from my daily and weekly tasks. I want to continue doing that this year for sure.
