I’m sharing this #MondayMotivation quote from leadership coach and author Mack Story as a reminder that it’s okay to say no to some opportunities. In fact, saying no to some things allows you to focus more on the things you’re actually meant to do.
I, like so many, often struggle with the thought of “Am I doing too much or not doing enough?” Even with so much on my plate, I often feel like I’m not doing too much. However, now I’m realizing that as I took on so many things, I wasn’t truly being productive and moving forward. I had too much on my plate. I was trying to do things that others were successful at, like being more of an Instagram influencer, rather than focusing more on my own gift of writing.
So I had to learn to reevaluate and reprioritize the projects I was trying to do. I had to cut some work out so that I could spend more time on other important things and new ventures. Saying no to the wrong things (or maybe less important things) creates space for you to focus on the things you need to get done.
I challenge you this week, as I challenge myself, to look at everything you have on your to-do list. Look at all of the many projects you have on your plate, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed, and see which ones could potentially be put on hold for now. You really don’t have to do everything at once. In fact, doing everything at once really means you’re not doing much at all. I get that now.
So don’t be afraid to say no or put things on hold for now. It likely will open up space for you to work on the right projects.
