Starting the week off right! This #MondayMotivation quote from author John C. Maxwell reminds us that habits are key in accomplishing our goals.

We all should know that our daily habits have a significant impact on if and when we achieve the goals that we have for ourselves. If those habits don’t line up with the goals we have, we’ll likely fail. Or at least accomplishing them will take much longer than they should.

Confession: I fall guilty to a lack of discipline and routine when it comes to certain habits. Prime example is my nutrition in my weight loss journey. I rise and fall so many times since I started using food to cope with grief, anxiety and depression some years ago. I still haven’t gotten past those bad habits completely. I know that I either have to work towards changing up what I eat (and how much) or get used to this little stomach I have.

I’d be lying if I said I personally have it all figured out, but I do know that what trips us up is thinking that we have to everything all together at once. Developing good habits starts with making one small change…and then another…and then another. Those changes add up. What did I first start with? Cutting out soda and drinking more water. Then it was chips and cookies. Now, it’s going to be cutting down treat meals because I’ve been enjoying myself a little too much.

Ultimately, you have to change up your habits to fit the goals you have, or you need to change those goals. However, don’t get overwhelmed by how much you have to change. Take it one day, one step, one small change at a time.
