The first anniversary of the tragic death of the late, great Nipsey Hussle was yesterday (March 31). Though he’s not here physically, his impact and legacy live on. In celebrating his life, I had to share some thoughts from him for today’s Words of Wisdom. I hope it impacts you in a powerful way.
In this clip, Nipsey talked about the importance of trusting your instincts. “I don’t need confirmation. If I feel it, I trust how I feel,” he shared. For him, he trusted his instincts when it came down to his music career and other ventures, not wanting to compromise his standards and values for business moves. He stood firm in who he was and made decisions based on his gut.
I’m learning to do that with a lot of prayer and reflection. The problem lies in second-guessing what you feel in your spirit. I’ve made the mistake of not trusting my instincts in business and in relationships. I knew, deep down, God had called me to move away from some stuff and people. So He had to show me the hard way. And it hurt like hell. Now, I don’t wait for confirmation from anybody other than Him. If we’re good on it, then I’m moving on it. If it doesn’t sit well, then I’m moving away from it.
