I love Octavia Spencer and her story and growth as an actress. These Words of Wisdom from her are very impactful and I hope that it inspires you today.
In a graduation speech to Kent University in 2017 (you can watch the powerful moment here), Octavia shared with the graduates the importance of embracing life’s mess and not getting caught up in timeframes and what others are doing. “You’re going to continue to evolve in unforeseen ways,” she revealed. I FELT THAT. Because many of us naturally want control over our lives. While we can plan and work to our heart’s content, life often takes you in a different direction.
I don’t know about you all but life’s all over the place for me right now. In a good way, though. I’m working on new things and I don’t know where it’s all going to end up. It’s a little unnerving but also exciting at the same time. I’m excited to continue to work towards my goals and see where life takes me. I really used to look at being in my late 20s as OLD and that, if my dreams don’t happen now, they never will (HA!). It’s only the beginning and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.
