I LOVE this song from Tessa Thompson. I listen to it pretty much every day and it’s a great Inspirational Jam to kick off the day.
“I Will Go To War” was featured on the Creed II soundtrack. Tessa, who played Bianca in the film, sang the song as Donnie Creed (Michael B. Jordan) walked into the arena for the huge fight at the end of the movie. On the song, Tessa sings about working hard not just for yourself but also because of those you have in your life. I don’t know about y’all, but I’d go to war for the ones I love.
A huge lesson I learned in recent years is the power of your why. As motivational speaker Eric Thomas states that it’s important to have a reason why you do what you do outside of just yourself. Because if you’re only thinking about yourself you might quit. This song reminds me of that.
I do what I do now not only for myself and because this is my passion and purpose. I do what I do for my family. I do what I do because too many people invested in me to see me be great. I go full force thinking about my future kids, crazy as that may seem. What I do now will affect them later and I want them to have an even better life than I did. Knowing my why keeps me going on the days when I want to quit or be lazy.
