I’ve just started getting into rapper Tobe Nwigwe over the last year or so. He’s a great artist with a message and I really gravitated towards his work. So when I saw this Words of Wisdom clip from him, I had to feature him on Imperfectly B.
In this clip, Tobe admitted that one of the hardest lessons he had to learn in his music career was that people didn’t care if he was just good or not. People cared if he could regularly put out great work and not just the bare minimum. “People care if you’re consistent and if you can execute at a high level,” Tobe stated. “Nobody cares if you’re just good and you have a skill set.”
This is a hard lesson that I had to learn the hard way. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you’re not executing consistently and going above and beyond the average person, it doesn’t matter. I’ve also found that knowing what the higher purpose is behind what you do helps you to be consistent and execute. Because then you realize that it’s not just about you, which pushes you to go even harder.
