This #MondayMotivation quote is a tough but necessary one for me and I’m sure for all of you as well. Because we have our own ideas with how life should be and, most times, things don’t go according to plan.
Expectations can ruin our lives when we get so caught up in how things were “supposed to be” instead of learning to be happy and grow in your current circumstances. I know this all too well.
My life after graduating from Loyola DID NOT go according to my plan. I ended up unemployed for almost a year, living at home, and working a job that not only had nothing to do with my major but I was also overworked and underpaid. My head was all over the place and I really struggled through that time in my life.
A lot of it had to do with the expectation that I would have accomplished so much more by my mid-twenties. Instead of being bitter and wallowing in pity about what was going wrong, I had to learn to find joy and peac in the midst of everything. That took learning to be grateful for what I did have and seeing the benefits of where I was in life, even if I wasn’t thrilled about it. It was then that my life really started changing around.
I challenge myself to continue to do that and you guys as well.
