I needed these Words of Wisdom from Mindy Kaling especially today!
Returning to her alma mater, Dartmouth College, to give a commencement speech to the Class of 2018, Mindy shared some powerful words. When she sat in the very same place they did, she was surely nervous and unsure of what lied ahead. She had her doubts about making her dreams reality, but she continually told herself, “Why not me?” Why shouldn’t she make something of herself? Why shouldn’t she be able to go out and reach her dreams? She encouraged the graduating class to go out and conquer the world like she is. “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something but especially not yourself,” she shared.
We all have moments of getting caught up in self-doubt. It may stem from other people or circumstances, or even words we tell ourselves. I know this happens to be me a lot. I have to learn to shake off my own insecurities and self-doubt. Mindy’s words were confirmation! We all need to ask ourselves that question: “Why not me?”
