Okay, so today’s Inspirational Jam is a cute and personal one (judge me, I don’t care LOL!). My younger cousin is turning 12 this weekend, but this song from the 2014 remake of Annie was our song!
“The City’s Yours” features vocals from Jamie Foxx (Mr. Stacks) and Quvenzhané Wallis (Annie) as they take a helicopter ride over NYC. In character, Jamie sings to Quevenzhané about how she can literally be at the top if she works hard and wants it bad enough.
While things don’t always work according to plan, I’m a firm believer that anything is possible if you’re patient, have clear-cut goals and an action plan, and put in the work. Legit work. Not that fake-me-out, busy-but-not-productive, unstrategic work that a lot of people do. That’s what I stress to my little cousin still and myself. Don’t ever put limits on yourself…dream big and work smarter. You’ll get to where you want to be in time!
