“Mommy’s not here no more…you’re the only mouth you gotta feed for. So sharpen up those claws…you gotta find your own voice…”
I love me some Chloe x Halle! These two siblings are taking the music world by storm with their ethereal voices and their new album, The Kids Are Alright. So I wanted to feature one of their new songs as this week’s Inspirational Jam!
The sisters’ track, “Babybird,” may so be catered to teens heading out of their parents’ house for the first time (the two sisters do star on Freeform’s hit show grown-ish, all about finding your way at college). But I think we all could stand to learn from this song.
At some point in time, we all have to learn how to stand on our own two feet and fly into the unknown! And you don’t have to be an incoming college freshman to feel that. We all can find ourselves in comfort zones at any point in our lives, and it can be scary to jump out of the nest. However, I’d rather be scared to death and make whatever jump, than to be comfortable and stuck in the same old spot day after day. That’s what I took away from this track.
You can start small, and just try that one thing that scares you or makes you feel a little uncomfortable. It could be public speaking or networking. It could be creating music or video content. But just try it anyway. And then again, and again, until you eventually break free of that fear. What have you got to lose?
You can get Chloe x Halle’s”Babybird” and their album, The Kids Are Alright, on iTunes and other digital outlets! Take a listen to the song below…
