I dedicate this song today to my Nana. Today marks her 79th birthday, and her third in heaven. She and I both loved Beyoncé and this Inspirational Jam perfectly matches my Nana’s life and how I myself aspire to be.
Bey’s track “I Was Here” is a reminder to not only live your life to the fullest, but to also make a positive impact while you’re here! Beyoncé has certainly done that beyond just her performances on the stage, giving back to multiple organizations literally across the world.
We may not have that kind of reach, but each of us can do something to make a positive mark in the lives around us, in the people that we see on a regular basis. In some way, we can strive to better serve our families, our neighborhoods, our churches, our co-workers, our communities. And it’s not for attention or accolades. It’s simply for the satisfaction of knowing that you helped others along the way, and left this world a little better simply because YOU were here! I know that’s what I want for my life!
