I wanted to share this amazing video from motivational speaker Trent Shelton today, because it really spoke to me and reminded me of a harsh reality. You truly do have to believe in yourself, even when others don’t.
As Trent speaks on in his Instagram video below, none of us are entitled to anybody’s help or support. I don’t care if it’s from your family, your employer, the people in your hometown, whoever. Nobody HAS to help you. You shouldn’t be mad it, and you definitely shouldn’t wait around for them to! “Never postpone your vision waiting on help,” Trent says in the video. “Educate yourself to elevate your life.”

Now, I’ve been blessed to have a good amount of support for what I do and what I plan to do when it comes to this site and my writing in general. But a major lesson that I had to learn (and am still learning in some aspects) is that nobody HAS to support me. Nobody has to make magic happen for me or give me opportunities to help elevate my life. When you expect that, eight times out of 10, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Nobody has to automatically show me love, which is why I’m forever grateful for those that do. In the end, it’s up to ME to make something happen in my life. It’s up to ME to work hard and keep the faith, trusting that God will be the One to reward my efforts. Because if I’m waiting on people down here to do it…pshhh I’ll forever be up a creek without a paddle.
Just because you’re good, or even great, at what you do, doesn’t mean that people are automatically going to give you a chance. You’re not just entitled to it either. You have to believe in yourself and keep pushing for higher heights in spite of A LOT. In spite of other people not understanding your vision. In spite of being rejected from opportunities that you truly deserved. In spite of people not supporting you at the level you think they should. Keep pushing through regardless, knowing that your vision and your true support will come soon!
