This teacher went above and beyond in a major act of love for one of her students and his family!
Nancy Bleuer teaches preschool at Washington Charlie Brown Preschool and Childcare in Mason City, Iowa. One of her students is 4-year-old Camden, whose father, Darreld Peterson, had been diagnosed with renal kidney failure in January. Darreld had been put on dialysis, and was really close to a new kidney, but the donor backed out at the last minute.
After Camden told her the sad news, Nancy decided to see if she could donate one of her kidneys to Darreld. She filled out the required paperwork, and discovered that she was a match! She will officially donate her kidney to Darreld TODAY (June 1)! “It’s just amazing,” Darreld told ABC News. “There are people waiting every day for a kidney, for an organ in general. I wish there were more people like her. She’s giving me a second chance at life.”
A beautiful story, and a very selfless act!
